Applied Fights Off Injunction But Not $4.8M Verdict

Law360, New York (May 18, 2010, 6:58 PM ET) -- A federal judge has upheld a $4.8 million jury verdict against Applied Medical Resources Corp. in a case involving minimally invasive surgery devices patented by Covidien, but although he tacked on additional interest, he found that a permanent injunction was not appropriate.

Judge Keith F. Giblin of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas concluded Monday that there was sufficient evidence in the record to sustain the jury’s verdict as to infringement of Covidien's patent.
