Wyeth Sues IPC To Stave Off Effexor Generic Bid

Law360, New York (July 02, 2010, 1:14 PM ET) -- Pfizer Inc. unit Wyeth LLC has fired off a patent suit against Intellipharmaceutics International Inc. in response to IPC's bid for regulatory approval to market a copycat version of Wyeth's depression and anxiety drug Effexor XR, which is facing mounting generic competition.

Wyeth lodged the lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York on Thursday, naming Toronto-based IPC International and two subsidiaries as defendants.
