SEC, DOJ Launch FCPA Probe Into Merck

Law360, New York (August 09, 2010, 2:48 PM ET) -- Merck & Co. Inc. has become the latest pharmaceutical company to be investigated by the U.S. government for possible violations of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.

In a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on Friday, the Whitehouse Station, N.J.-based drugmaker said it had received letters from both the SEC and the U.S. Department of Justice seeking information about its activities in “a number of countries” related to the anti-bribery law.
