US Seeks Stay On Stem Cell Funding Ban For Appeal

Law360, New York (August 31, 2010, 6:31 PM ET) -- The U.S. Department of Justice asked a federal judge Tuesday to stay a recent decision that enjoined the federal government from funding human embryonic stem cell research, arguing that the ban could negate years spent in search of treatments for illnesses such as diabetes.

The DOJ asked Judge Royce Lamberth of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia to stay the preliminary injunction while it appeals the decision.
