Law360, New York (April 19, 2007, 12:00 AM ET) -- A Senate Committee approved a bill Wednesday that would require the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to monitor safety of new drugs and renew a law allowing the agency to collect fees from drug companies and medical device manufacturers.
The bill, sponsored by Sens. Edward Kennedy (D-Mass.) and Michael Enzi (R-Wyo.) the chairman and ranking member of the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee, passed by a 15-5 vote.
