Greenberg Traurig Hit With Malpractice Suit

Law360, New York (April 20, 2007, 12:00 AM ET) -- A New York-based company formed by surgeons has brought a $10 million malpractice suit against Greenberg Traurig for allegedly failing to notify the company of a fee payment that would have kept its medical device patent from expiring.

Quickie LLC, which filed the suit in New York Supreme Court on Wednesday, claimed that the international full-service law firm neglected to give the company timely notice of a maintenance-fee deadline for its patent covering a passive knotless suture terminator for use in open-heart surgeries.
