Law360, New York (May 15, 2007, 12:00 AM ET) -- Abbott Laboratories has filed a lawsuit against an Indian pharmaceutical company and its U.S. subsidiary in a move to stave off efforts to horn in on the billion-dollar U.S. market for the drug Depakote.
Abbott’s complaint, dated May 11, was filed in New Jersey against Wockhardt Ltd. and Wockhardt USA.
Depakote, which is indicated for the treatment of bipolar disorder, epilepsy and migraine headaches, brought in $1.3 billion in global sales for Abbott in 2006, according to the company’s annual report.
