Wyeth Sues Sandoz Over Generic Effexor

Law360, New York (June 25, 2007, 12:00 AM ET) -- Wyeth has filed a patent infringement suit against Novartis over an extended release version of the depression and anxiety treatment Effexor, marking the latest chapter in Wyeth's long-running fight to block generic competition for the blockbuster drug.

Wyeth sued Sandoz Inc. on Friday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of North Carolina, claiming that Sandoz's submission of an Abbreviated New Drug Application seeking regulatory approval for a generic version of an extended release Effexor infringed three patents.
