Law360, New York (November 14, 2011, 3:42 PM ET) -- Contractors paid to suss out Medicare fraud are often working with inaccurate and old data, making it impossible to even evaluate how well the fraud detection program is going, an inspector general's report revealed Monday.
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services estimate the programs together lost $70 billion to fraud in 2010. Other estimates put Medicare fraud alone at $60 billion a year.
