House Panel Votes To Nix CLASS Health Care Program

Law360, New York (December 01, 2011, 6:53 PM ET) -- A U.S. House of Representatives committee passed a measure Wednesday that would yank the Community Living Assistance Services and Supports program, a long-term insurance program that the federal government determined was not viable as envisioned under the federal health care reform law.

In a 33-17 vote, the House Energy and Commerce Committee passed H.R. 1173, a bill that would repeal the CLASS program, which is a voluntary, national insurance program to help American workers pay for long-term services and supports they may need in the future....
