Boehringer Sues Barr Over Generic Stroke Drug

Law360, New York (July 12, 2007, 12:00 AM ET) -- Boehringer Ingelheim Pharma GmbH & Co. KG has filed a patent infringement suit against generic drugmaker Barr Pharmacuticals Inc. to prevent the release of a copycat drug prescribed to lower the risk of strokes.

Ingelheim, Germany-based Boehringer and its affiliates filed the suit Wednesday in a Delaware federal court claiming that Barr infringed a patent for the drug Aggrenox by filing an Abbreviated New Drug Application with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
