J&J Settles Duragesic Suit For $2.5M

Law360, New York (July 31, 2007, 12:00 AM ET) -- Johnson & Johnson Inc. has reportedly agreed to pay $2.5 million to the family of a Florida man who died of an overdose while using its painkiller patch Duragesic, the first settlement to come from the hundreds of pending lawsuits over the drug.

Bloomberg reported Monday that J&J had agreed to the settlement, but that over 300 other wrongful deaths suits were still pending. The suits concern a patch that delivers a controlled dose of a painkiller to patients.
