Hospital Group Wants HHS Coding System Switch Delayed

Law360, New York (May 17, 2012, 4:23 PM ET) -- A hospital group on Tuesday threw its support behind a one-year delay of a proposed rule requiring health care providers to switch their billing systems to the updated ICD-10 coding system and urged federal health officials to finalize their proposal as soon as possible.

The American Hospital Association cited a February survey of nearly 1,000 of its member hospitals in which 70 percent said they would be in favor of a delay, which was floated last month by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services....
