Law360, New York (May 24, 2012, 2:04 PM ET) -- A majority of individual health care plans charge consumers rates that would disqualify them from being sold on new insurance exchanges being created under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, according to a study published Wednesday.
The health reform law authorized new marketplaces, often compared to Expedia or Travelocity, that will debut in 2014 and allow comparison shopping for insurance plans. In order to offer coverage in those arenas, companies must cover at least 60 percent of a customer's health expenses.
