Stericycle Must Shed Recently Bought Rival, UK Regulator Says

Law360, New York (May 24, 2012, 5:24 PM ET) -- The U.K.'s antitrust appeals body on Thursday upheld a ruling that required Stericycle Inc. to sell off its recently acquired medical waste management company Ecowaste Southwest Ltd. in order to preserve competition.

The U.K. Competition Appeal Tribunal upheld the U.K. Competition Commission's March decision mandating that Stericycle sell Ecowaste, despite the company's argument that the commission had created a significant and unnecessary risk that the waste company would be undersold.
