Law360, New York (September 17, 2007, 12:00 AM ET) -- A judge has thrown out about 20 cases alleging Metabolife International Inc.'s ephedra-containing products caused heart attacks, strokes and even death.
Judge Jed S. Rakoff of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York signed off on about 19 stipulations of dismissal with prejudice. The cases against Metabolife, a few of which also named Wal-Mart Stores Inc., were all tossed out on Friday.
Paul Rheingold, an attorney for the plaintiffs, said the cases were all part of a settlement some time ago....
