Law360, New York (June 01, 2005, 12:00 AM ET) -- A legislative panel in Brazil has cleared a controversial measure that would allow the government to break patents on imported AIDS drugs so they can be distributed as generic products locally.
The Constitution and Justice Committee of Brazil's lower house in a unanimous vote Wednesday approved the bill, which will be sent directly to the Senate economics and justice committees for final review unless lawmakers file an appeal.
