Cigna Sues Calif. Surgical Group Over $66M Fraud

Law360, Los Angeles (January 14, 2013, 9:31 PM ET) -- Cigna Health and Life Insurance Co. on Friday hit a group of California surgical practices with a federal lawsuit, alleging they fraudulently schemed to overbill the insurer and the ERISA plans it administers by at least $66 million.

The complaint, filed in the Northern District of California, names Bay Area Surgical Management LLC, six other San Francisco Bay Area surgical centers and three BASM co-founders — Julia Hashemieh, Robert Sarnevesht and Javad Zolfaghari — as defendants.
