Law360, New York (June 03, 2008, 12:00 AM ET) -- Several plaintiffs attorneys' requests to withdraw as counsel have been rejected in the settled multidistrict class action concerning Guidant Corp.'s allegedly harmful implantable defibrillators.
Judge Donovan W. Frank of the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota issued an order Monday denying without prejudice the requests, which together would have left 20 plaintiffs without representation.
Guidant, a subsidiary of Boston Scientific Corp., agreed in July 2007 to pay $195 million to plaintiffs allegedly injured by its implantable defibrillators. The company increased the settlement to $240...
