Wyeth Reverses Course, Settles Prempro Suit

Law360, New York (July 17, 2008, 12:00 AM ET) -- In an about-face, Wyeth has decided to settle with two Nevada women who claimed the company's controversial hormone-replacement drugs Prempro and Premarin led to their breast cancer.

Wyeth revealed the settlement with Vesta Woodhouse and Annie Woods on Tuesday, only days before a trial was set to begin on charges that the drugmaker did not produce sufficient warnings regarding the medications.

The deal does not put to rest Woods' claims regarding Provera, a similar drug produced by a subsidiary of rival Pfizer Inc.
