Bayer Sues Sandoz, Watson Over Another Yaz Patent

Law360, New York (September 23, 2008, 12:00 AM ET) -- Bayer Schering Pharma AG has launched yet another attack on rivals Sandoz Inc. and Watson Pharmaceuticals Inc. over their efforts to market generic Yaz, the first birth control pill approved to treat severe premenstrual symptoms.

In a complaint filed Thursday in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, Bayer accuses the generic-drug makers of infringing U.S. Patent Number 5,569,652, which covers uses of the drug other than contraception.
