Law360, New York (July 19, 2006, 12:00 AM ET) -- For the first time in his five-and-a-half year tenure, President George W. Bush has used his veto to block legislation, slamming a law that would fund stem-cell research as crossing “a moral boundary.”
“This bill would support the taking of innocent human life in the hope of finding medical benefits for others. It crosses a moral boundary that our decent society needs to respect, so I vetoed it,” Bush said in remarks delivered at the White House.
