Boehringer Sues To Block Norbrook's Generic Metacam

Law360, New York (November 19, 2008, 12:00 AM ET) -- Boehringer Ingelheim Pharma GmbH & Co. KG has unleashed a lawsuit alleging veterinary pharmaceutical company Norbrook Laboratories Ltd. infringed a patent for Metacam when seeking regulatory approval for a generic version of the canine anti-inflammatory drug.

The complaint, lodged in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Missouri, claims an abbreviated new animal drug application Norbrook filed with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration violates Boehringer’s patent for Metacam.
