PTO Rules For Smith & Nephew In Suture Patent Fight

Law360, New York (March 30, 2009, 12:00 AM ET) -- The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office ruled Monday that a patent for suture anchors at the center of what has become a $20.2 million federal court decision was correctly licensed to Smith & Nephew.

Arthrex Inc., which had come out on the downside of a decision in the U.S. District Court for the District of Oregon, had asked for the re-examination of the patent license last summer, according to a statement from Smith & Nephew.
