Prudential, AIG Rework $36B AIA Deal

Law360, New York (May 11, 2010, 12:54 PM ET) -- British insurer Prudential PLC is reportedly renegotiating the terms of its approximately $36 billion purchase of American International Group Inc.'s Asian insurance unit, AIA Group Ltd., after U.K. regulators raised concerns about the capital position of the combined insurer.

Prudential is looking into restructuring a bond offering connected to the sale, the Financial Times reported Tuesday. The two sides were negotiating the terms of a $2 billion cash payment that was part of the transaction, according to the newspaper.
