Class Certified In Cigna Autism Treatment Suit

Law360, Washington (August 15, 2011, 2:12 PM ET) -- A Pennsylvania federal judge on Friday certified a nationwide class of Cigna Corp. insurance beneficiaries who allege the company improperly denied their claims for certain types of treatment for autism spectrum disorders.

Plaintiff Kristopher Churchill had asked the court to certify a class of individuals who received insurance from, or whose benefit plans were managed by, Cigna, and who were harmed by Cigna’s policy of denying benefits for the treatments.
