Law360, New York (November 30, 2011, 8:08 PM ET) -- Tesoro Corp. struck back Wednesday at Chartis Specialty Insurance Co. in a dispute over environmental cleanup costs at a California refinery, launching a complaint in California that seeks at least $80 million from Chartis and moving to dismiss the insurer's complaint in Texas.
The flurry of filings came in response to a suit Chartis filed in Texas federal court Nov. 7 alleging Tesoro has not exhausted a $50 million self-insured retention under a Chartis policy for pollution at the Golden Eagle Refinery in Martinez, Calif....
