Law360, New York (June 19, 2012, 1:24 PM ET) -- Federal regulators on Friday found themselves accused of exploring restrictions on the purchase of stop-loss insurance by small and medium-size businesses, with three Republican senators suggesting such a move would overstep executive powers.
The charge comes in response to regulators' concerns that employers might skirt regulations by self-insuring and shielding themselves from large bills with stop-loss insurance, which is exempt from some elements of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.
