Law360, New York (June 25, 2012, 7:46 PM ET) -- Charitable hospitals will have to curtail debt collection practices and revamp financial assistance policies under new U.S. Department of Treasury and Internal Revenue Service regulations based on health reform law requirements, the agencies announced Friday.
Although the proposed rules are mandated by the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, the Treasury Department noted that concerns over alleged aggressive debt collection practices came into play when drafting the new regulations.
