Texas Gov. Says No To Insurance Exchange, More Medicaid

Law360, New York (July 09, 2012, 6:40 PM ET) -- Texas Gov. Rick Perry said Monday that the state would not expand Medicaid or create a state insurance exchange as provided in the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, potentially inviting another battle with the federal government.

In a letter to U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, Perry said the provisions of the ACA that called for insurance exchanges and the expansion of Medicaid represented “brazen intrusions” into state sovereignty.
