Law360, New York (July 13, 2012, 7:09 PM ET) -- The Self-Insurance Institute of America told the National Association of Insurance Commissioners on Thursday not to recommend that states tighten regulations over stop-loss insurance, arguing that it would force many employers to cut health benefits for workers.
Proposed guideline revisions to the NAIC's model act for stop-loss insurance respond to fears that small employers with younger, healthier workers will exit the health insurance marketplace and flock to stop-loss carriers to avoid requirements under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.
