States Struggle To Prep Medicaid Expansion, GAO Says

Law360, New York (August 01, 2012, 7:08 PM ET) -- Several states are struggling to implement expansion of Medicaid and improve their information technology systems, and say they need more guidance from the federal government on a range of issues, according to a government report released Wednesday.

The U.S. Government Accountability Office found that several selected states — Colorado, Georgia, Iowa, Minnesota, New York and Virginia — have reported difficulties in improving or replacing their outdated IT systems in order to comply with new eligibility standards and a new method for determining eligibility.
