A Roadmap To New Markets Tax Credit

Law360, New York (August 16, 2012, 12:48 PM ET) -- The New Markets Tax Credit (NMTC) is a potential means of supporting the financing needs of certain entities. The NMTC was enacted by Congress on Dec. 21, 2000, as part of the Community Renewal Tax Relief Act of 2000.

The program is administered by the U.S. Treasury Department’s Community Development Financial Institutions Fund. The goal of the program is to stimulate and incentivize investments in low-income and underdeveloped rural communities across the United States.
