Jury Sides With CSX On Asbestos Lawyer Fraud Claims

Law360, Chicago (December 21, 2012, 7:12 PM ET) -- A West Virginia jury sided with CSX Transportation Inc. on Thursday on its racketeering, conspiracy and fraud claims against two lawyers who the railroad company accused of hatching a plot with a radiologist to fabricate asbestos claims.

Following a trial that began Dec. 11, an eight-person jury entered a verdict saying that lawyers Robert Peirce and Louis Raimond, both previously of the defunct Pittsburgh law firm Peirce Raimond & Coulter PC, are liable to CSX for violating the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act through racketeering...
