Calif. Regulator Approves ACA Insurance Exchange Rates

Law360, New York (July 16, 2013, 7:25 PM ET) -- California’s health plan regulator gave its approval Monday to all the individual health plans set to be offered through the state’s pending Affordable Care Act-mandated health insurance exchange, saying their proposed premiums were “not unreasonable.”

According to the California Department of Managed Health Care, its actuaries had conducted a “thorough review” of the intended premium rates for the 13 qualified health plans for individuals, due to begin offering coverage to about 5.3 million people through Covered California — the state’s health insurance exchange — in 2014....
