ITC Launches Probe Over HP Ink Cartridge Patents

Law360, New York (June 21, 2010, 7:33 PM ET) -- The U.S. International Trade Commission has opened a review into whether six of Hewlett-Packard Co.’s patents covering printer ink cartridges are being infringed by MicroJet Technology Co. Ltd. and other rivals.

The ITC said Monday it had voted to institute an investigation based on HP’s May complaint that alleges the respondents have violated Section 337 of the Tariff Act of 1930 by importing and selling certain ink cartridges with printheads and related components that infringe the patents.
