Law360, New York (July 20, 2010, 6:50 PM ET) -- The European Union on Wednesday appealed a World Trade Organization decision that billions of dollars in government subsidies paid to aircraft giant Airbus SAS were inconsistent with WTO rules.
The EU said the appeal challenges a number of findings by the WTO panel on June 30, including that subsidies to Airbus harmed Boeing; that infrastructure built by EU member states constituted subsidies to Airbus; and that so-called repayable launch investment in Airbus' A380 constituted export subsidies.
