Samsung Fights Duties On Plasma TVs From Mexico

Law360, New York (October 27, 2010, 4:06 PM ET) -- Samsung International Inc. has lodged a complaint demanding the federal government repay duties charged on plasma televisions that allegedly should have been duty-free under the North American Free Trade Agreement.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection wrongly classified certain components as dutiable at 5 percent ad valorem, when in fact they underwent shifts during manufacture that qualified them for tariff-free status, Samsung claimed Tuesday in the U.S. Court of International Trade.
