Law360, New York (April 12, 2011, 4:50 PM ET) -- Facing concerns about international trade challenges, European Union lawmakers on Tuesday called for changes to a plan that would give individual member nations the authority to ban the growth of genetically modified crops for environmental reasons.
The Committee on Environment Public Health and Food Safety passed an amended version of the plan that would give individual EU members the power to authorize, limit or ban genetically modified crops, which has attracted criticism from some countries and environmental groups since the European Commission proposed it in July....
