Law360, Los Angeles (January 03, 2012, 6:10 PM ET) -- The U.S. Trade Representative's office on Thursday announced that it had removed certain sleeping bag imports from the list of articles eligible for duty-free treatment under the U.S. Generalized System of Preferences.
President Barack Obama dropped non-down sleeping bags from the GSP list after determining that the product was import-sensitive, according to a statement from the USTR. Alabama-based Exxel Outdoors, the country's largest maker of sleeping bags, sought the change, saying that duty-free imports from Bangladesh may have forced the company to shed U.S. jobs....
