India Tech-Buying Rules May Breach WTO Pacts, Group Says

Law360, New York (April 09, 2012, 6:06 PM ET) -- Business groups called on Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, in a letter announced Monday, to reconsider new rules on government-purchased technology that they say give unfair preference to domestic companies, arguing the laws could be in violation of World Trade Organization obligations.

In the letter addressed to Prime Minister Singh, 35 different business and technology organizations urged the Indian government to rethink its new Preferential Market Access regulations, which give government procurement preference to domestically manufactured electronic goods.
