Law360, New York (April 27, 2012, 6:55 PM ET) -- The Office of the U.S. Trade Representative lodged an appeal with the D.C. Circuit on Thursday in a last-ditch attempt to avoid turning over a classified document from failed free trade negotiations in the late 1990s.
The USTR will ask the appeals court to overturn U.S. District Judge Richard W. Roberts' Feb. 29 decision that the government hadn't shown how releasing a position paper prepared during negotiations over the Free Trade Area of the Americas could possibly interfere with American trade ties.
