DOL Offers Aid After Chinese Subsidies Shutter Solar Plant

Law360, New York (April 30, 2012, 7:31 PM ET) -- The U.S. Department of Labor will provide assistance to laid-off SolarWorld Industries America Inc. factory workers after determining that the company shuttered its Camarillo, Calif., plant as a result of unfair Chinese subsidies, the agency said Friday.

SolarWorld — the company leading the charge in government investigations into whether China's solar energy sector has an unnatural edge — said Monday that the government will provide education, health and other assistance to the 186 employees who were fired when the California plant closed down.
