Dow Escapes EU Ethanolamine Duty

Law360, New York (May 08, 2012, 7:03 PM ET) -- A European court ruled Tuesday that Dow Chemical Co. should no longer face anti-dumping duties on imports of ethanolamine, a chemical used in paints and detergents and as a purification agent in petroleum.

Europe's General Court said the Council of the European Union had made a “manifest error” in ruling in 2010 that Dow and other American ethanolamine producers would start dumping their product on the EU market if the duties — in place since 1994 — were not renewed.
