Law360, New York (June 07, 2012, 1:33 PM ET) -- A partnership of major oil companies including Eni SpA, Chevron Corp. and Lukoil OAO is investigating whether its contractors bribed customs officials in Kazakhstan to smooth operations at one of the country's deepest oil and gas deposits, company representatives confirmed Thursday.
In March, members of Karachaganak Petroleum Operating BV and a logistics unit of Deutsche Post AG received an anonymous email detailing suspicious payments made to customs officials in Aksai City, Kazakhstan, according to group representatives.
