Law360, New York (July 05, 2012, 8:37 PM ET) -- The European Parliament's overwhelming vote Wednesday to reject the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement dealt a significant blow to the effort to combat online piracy, limiting the deal's international scope.
The Parliament's vote — 478 members against ACTA, 39 in favor and 165 abstaining — means Europe will stand aloof from the treaty, signed in October by the U.S., Canada, Japan and other nations.
