China Will Follow WTO Procedures In US Auto Duty Challenge

Law360, New York (July 06, 2012, 2:45 PM ET) -- Chinese officials on Friday said they would abide by normal World Trade Organization procedures in dealing with a recent U.S. challenge over duties on American-made cars exported to China.

The U.S. on Thursday said it would request a WTO consultation — the first step in the trade bloc's dispute resolution process — related to countervailing and anti-dumping duties leveled against American car producers, and China responded in the form of a brief statement from the head of the Ministry of Commerce's treaty and law department....
