Importer Cops Guilty Plea Over Duty Dodge But Denies The Rest

Law360, New York (August 02, 2012, 6:46 PM ET) -- A restaurant supply company owner faced with criminal charges for allegedly dodging $1.15 million in duties on imports of plastic bags from China has pled guilty to one of 10 counts against him, according to a filing in Maryland federal court Tuesday.

Jin Qing Huang pled guilty to a claim that he had falsely declared the value of one shipment of plastic bags to U.S. Customs and Border Protection, claiming the bags were worth only $52,000 when they were actually worth $82,000. He maintained his not-guilty...
