OPEC Claims Immunity To Service In Bid To Nix Antitrust Suit

Law360, New York (August 22, 2012, 4:48 PM ET) -- The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries urged a federal judge Tuesday to dismiss the latest price-fixing suit leveled against it from conservative public interest group Freedom Watch Inc., arguing that the plaintiff had not adequately served the Vienna-based organization.

OPEC told the Washington, D.C., court that nothing had changed in the conflicting service of process rules in the U.S. and Austria since a Florida district court dismissed a virtually identical complaint from Freedom Watch without prejudice in 2008 on similar grounds.
