FDA Sued To Force Implementation Of Food Safety Rules

Law360, New York (August 30, 2012, 1:38 PM ET) -- Two public interest groups on Wednesday sued the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in California federal court in an attempt to force the agency to finally implement long-delayed provisions of the Food Safety Modernization Act, signed into law 18 months ago.

In the lawsuit, filed in the Northern District of California, the Center for Food Safety and the Center for Environmental Health claim the FDA has missed seven critical deadlines for implementing the FSMA, the most sweeping overhaul of America's food safety system since the 1930s....
